The Traffic Division serves as a data repository of statewide motor vehicle accident reports, convictions of alcohol and drug-related traffic offenses, dispositions on Missouri State Highway Patrol traffic arrests, and assignment of unique numbers for inclusion on the Uniform Citation (UC). The division also maintains Missouri's Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Motor vehicle traffic crash information is obtained by law enforcement agencies across the state, authorized to investigate traffic crashes, submitting crash information via the Missouri Uniform Accident Report. Once the crash reports are reviewed, data from reports meeting specific criteria are encoded into the Statewide Traffic Accident Records System (STARS). The availability of statistical information concerning motor vehicle crashes, information about a specific crash, and actual copies of crash reports is contingent upon the finalized Missouri Uniform Accident Report reaching the Traffic Division and entered into STARS.

On-line Traffic Crash Reports: Information on this site is preliminary information relating to motor vehicle crashes investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. (Crashes investigated by agencies outside the Missouri State Highway Patrol are not included.) They are posted here automatically and remain online for 29 days. This site is hosted and maintained by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the reports are unofficial. If you want an official accident report copy, or if you do not see the accident report you are looking for, please contact the local Highway Patrol troop headquarters or the Traffic Division at General Headquarters.

Requesting Copies of Motor Vehicle Crash Reports and/or Photographs: Although the Missouri State Highway Patrol serves as a statewide repository of motor vehicle traffic crash data, the Highway Patrol only disseminates copies of traffic crash reports, reports of reconstructed traffic crashes, and photographs of traffic crash scenes submitted by Highway Patrol officers. Requests for copies of motor vehicle crash reports completed by local law enforcement officers must be submitted to the agency that investigated the traffic crash.
