OCCUPANT KINEMATICS IN CRASH INVESTIGATION

  • September 13-15, 2021

Prerequisite: The successful completion of an advanced crash investigation course.

Course Description: Occupant Kinematics involves the study and analysis of movement of a vehicle’s occupants during a collision.  This course will focus on recognizing occupant injuries and interior vehicle damage as evidence, and then interpreting the evidence to determine seating positions and movements within the vehicle.  Students will learn the importance of occupant safety restraint systems, and learn to determine safety belt usage and airbag interaction from the occupant injury patterns.  This course is important to crash investigators and reconstructionists to provide a complete crash investigation, to account for vehicles and their occupants involved in a motor vehicle crash.

Who Should Attend: Peace officers and individuals responsible for investigating motor vehicle crashes.
