MSHP Traffic Arrests Preface - A series of statistical tables are provided describing traffic citations written by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The primary source for these statistics is the Traffic Arrest System (TAS) maintained by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Statistics describe MSHP arrests for:
Moving Violations - Three tables are provided that displays citations written by the MSHP for speed, hazardous vehicle conditions, and other hazardous moving violations. The percent change in citations also is given in these tables. Speed violations are categorized by the miles per hour exceeded posted speed limit. Hazardous vehicle conditions include citations written for safety device violations and child restraint violations. Other hazardous moving violations include citations written for stop sign violations, lane violations, following too close violations, and improper signal violations.
Alcohol Violations - A table is provided that displays citations written by the MSHP for alcohol and drug related violations. The percent change in citations written also is given in the table. Alcohol and drug citations include aggravated / chronic, persistent / prior, and first time offenses as well as vehicular assault.
Licensing Violations - A table is provided that displays citations written by the MSHP for driver license and safety responsibility violations. The percent change in citations also is given in the table. Driver license and safety responsibility citations include driving while suspended, driving while revoked, driving without a license, and failure to maintain financial responsibility violations.
Other Violations - Four tables are provided that display citations written by the MSHP for motor vehicle inspection, registration and ownership, commercial motor vehicle, and other traffic felony violations. The percent change in citations also is given in these tables. Motor vehicle inspection citations include inspections without valid permits and inspections at unapproved location violations. Registration and ownership citations include failure to register motor vehicle or trailer, failure to display license plate, and failure to register non-resident commercial motor vehicle violations. Commercial motor vehicle citations include trailer length, weight, and brake system violations. Other traffic felony violations include 3rd offense for driving without a license, driving while drivers' license revoked for failure to take chemical test, zero tolerance, and left scene of motor vehicle accident violations.
