Course Description: This course is designed to teach students the skills necessary to swim across, and navigate, open water.  To complete this course, the student will swim over a mile and be away from shore for over an hour.  When not swimming, the student will be treading water while remaining aware of their location and potential dangers.  The course will be conducted at Lake of the Ozarks in water of varying depths and limited water visibility.  Students should be prepared to encounter wind, wave action, vessels in the vicinity, buoys, and debris in the water.  Students who complete this course will leave the class with increased confidence in their ability to swim and navigate open water of varying depths.
