What Is a Commercial Vehicle Officer?

The primary duties of a Missouri State Highway Patrol Commercial Vehicle Officer (CVO) are to promote safety and enforce Federal Regulations and State laws pertaining to commercial motor vehicles and drivers. A CVO conducts various levels of North American Standard inspections and post-crash analysis on commercial motor vehicles to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Other responsibilities include assisting the motoring public. A CVO must work under all climatic conditions, and work schedules change regularly.

What You Will Do

Where Do We Operate?

We operate throughout the state of Missouri in weigh stations and mobile units. Commercial Vehicle Officers work out of inspection facilities in Platte City, Mayview, Harrisonville, St. Clair, Bloomsdale, Wentzville, Joplin, Steele, Charleston, Willow Springs, Eagleville, and Watson. The division also has several mobile units across the state operating on the roadways.
