Drug Classifications

The Drug Chemistry Section encounters a wide array of substances that may be classified as "drugs".

These substances, then, may be categorized according to their overall chemical make-up:

• Marihuana - Cannabis
• Stimulants - Methamphetamine, Cocaine
• Narcotics - Morphine, Codeine, Heroin
• Hallucinogens - LSD, PCP, Peyote
• Depressants - Alprazolam, Diazepam, Lorazepam
• Steroids - Testosterone-like Substances
