COUNTER SNIPER RESPONSE FOR PATROL OFFICERS

  • February 18, 2020 Two sessions - 0800 and 1300 hours

Prerequisite: None

Course Description: The ability to survive, and successfully respond to, a sniper style threat is a critical skill police officers must be prepared for in today’s society. There have been various sniper style attacks in the United States which required a police response, and the 2016 Dallas sniper style attack specifically target law enforcement officers. This course will provide historical context, case study analysis and an in-depth discussion of effective ways to respond to a sniper style threat. Participants will also learn effective response tactics, critical medical care and be exposed to specialized equipment issues relating to counter sniper operations. The instructors are experienced law enforcement professionals with extensive SWAT and sniper backgrounds, and will teach proven tactics, techniques and procedures.

Who Should Attend: This four-hour POST course is designed for law enforcement patrol officers who could be attacked in the course of their regular duties. 

Cost:

  • $100 tuition only
  • Meals can be purchase separately at $6.00 each

Continuing Education Hours:

  • 2 hours of Technical Studies
  • 1 hour of Interpersonal Perspectives
  • 1 hour of Skill Development
