History:

In 1995 Missouri implemented a statewide Sex Offender Registration program in accordance with the Jacob Wetterling Crimes Against Children and Sexually Violent Offender Registration Act. Since then, there have been several other federal laws that have affected sex offender registration across the country. The Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act which is Title I of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006 provided a comprehensive set of minimum standards for sex offender registration and notification. Sections 589.400-425 and 43.650 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri mandates that the Patrol shall maintain a sex offender database and a website on the Internet that is accessible to the public.

Individuals required to register and are viewable on this website will include an individual's registration status. Definitions of the statues are provided below for reference:

  • Compliant - the individual is registering as required.
  • Non-Compliant - the individual has not completed or updated his/her information and in not compliant with the Chief Law Enforcement Official in the county in which the offender resides.
  • Pending Registration - the individual has provided a change of address to another county within Missouri and has not registered with the Chief Law Enforcement Official in the county in which the individual plans to reside OR the individual has provided an address to the Department of Corrections prior to release and the individual has not registered with the Chief Law Enforcement Official of the county in which the individual plans to reside.
  • Absconder - the individual's whereabouts are unknown to law enforcement officials.
  • Incarcerated - the individual's last known whereabouts is a county, city, state, military, or federal correctional facility.
  • Moved Out of State - the individual is no longer living, working, or going to school in the state of Missouri.
