COMMERCIAL VEHICLE CRASH INVESTIGATION

  • July 8-12, 2019

Prerequisite: The successful completion of an advanced crash investigation course.

Course Description: This course is intended for the crash investigator with little or no knowledge in commercial vehicle nomenclature.  Detailed mathematical problems will be presented in dealing with commercial motor vehicle crashes.

Course topics will include tractor-trailer nomenclature, types of tractor-trailer combinations, brake systems, brake inspection, trailer coupling devices, log books, complete vehicle inspection, jackknifing, off-tracking, hydroplaning, rollover, vehicle dynamics in braking, weight shift, practical exercises inspections, and vehicle testing.  The instructors provide training to students through lectures and field exercises which demonstrate commercial vehicle dynamics, braking capabilities and skidmarks, and equipment.

Who Should Attend: This course is designed for peace officers and individuals responsible for investigating commercial motor vehicle crashes.

Tuition/Registration Fees: Registration fees are due by the first day of class.  If fees are not paid in full prior to completion of class, certificates and continuing education hours will not be issued unless payment is received.

Cost:

  • $260 - tuition, meals, and lodging
  • $190 - tuition and meals
  • $600 - tuitiion, meals, and lodging (federal, private, and non-Missouri agencies)
  • $415 - tuition and meals (federal, private, and non-Missouri agencies)

Continuing Education Hours:

  • 28 hours of Technical Studies
  • 4 hours of Skill Development
