Narcotics/Vice Unit

The Narcotics Vice Unit is composed of seven (7) teams consisting of thirty-seven (37) Patrol narcotic officers and five (5) clerical employees. Additionally, the Patrol presently supervises eight (8) multi-jurisdictional task forces: the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force in Sikeston; the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group at the Lake of the Ozarks: the West Central Drug Task Force operating south of Kansas City; the Mineral Area Drug Task Force in East Central Missouri; the South Central Drug Task Force which operates out of West Plains, Missouri; the North Missouri Drug Task Force which operates out of Kirksville, Missouri; the East Central Missouri Task Force operating in Mexico, Missouri, and the Mid-Missouri Unified Strike Team and Narcotics Group operating in Central Missouri. The Patrol also supervises the Combined Ozarks Multi-jurisdictional Enforcement Team, which operates in a six (6) county area of southwest Missouri. The task force officers are members of local agencies assigned to the task forces contractually supervised by the Division of Drug and Crime Control. There are presently thirty-nine (39) task force officers assigned to these areas.

Division of Drug and Crime Control narcotics investigators are also assigned to three (3) federally-coordinated drug task forces: The Metro Meth Task Force located in Kansas City, the Drug Enforcement Administration Drug Task Force in Springfield, Missouri, and the Northwest Missouri Inter-Agency Team Response Organization located in Cameron, Missouri.

The Narcotic Vice Unit is a participating agency of the National Drug Pointer Index System (NDPIX). The National Pointer Index System is a fully automated pointer information system that provides participating state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies the capability to determine if a current drug investigative suspect is under active investigation by any other participating agency. All active cases assigned a case number are entered into this system.
